For those who don’t know about the Toaru series, it features an extremely interesting world where magical powers coexist with scientific phenomenon.

The universe of Toaru begins with A Certain Magical Index, a Japanese Light Novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura.

This series has been widely expanded upon with A Certain Scientific Railgun and A Certain Scientific Accelerator being side story spin-offs that got their own full continuation. It has been adapted into a multi-series megahit anime and also received a manga adaptation.

The timeline in RailDex series is one of the most complex ones that I have encountered so far. In order to help people who are new to the series, I have prepared a detailed Toaru (Raildex) watch order guide.

As with any series that has a complicated timeline, there are multiple ways in which you can proceed to watch the Toaru series. To keep things simplistic, I will be elaborating upon the complex watch order first.

This watch order unifies the timeline from all the series. It is a bit complicated to keep in track and can get confusing for people who are new to Toaru (Raildex) universe. It is best to follow this if you are familiar with the series and not a newbie.

Pseudo-Chronological Watch Order For Toaru (RECOMMENDED)

This order is also called the Railgun first order. You will get much more interest in the series by following the Scientific Side of Academy City in Railgun first before heading into the Magical Side in Index, despite Railgun being the spin-off.

It’s the most recommended order for people who value emotional impact.
