To access your router, connect a device to your network, open a web browser, type the router’s IP address (like 192.168.1.1) in the address bar, and log in with credentials (often found on the router or in the manual) to reach the admin settings. The IP address can also be found in your computer’s network settings (Default Gateway) or by using command prompt/terminal.
Step-by-step guide to access your router:
Connect to Your Network: Ensure the device (computer, phone, tablet) you’re using is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to manage, either via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
Find Your Router’s IP Address:
Check the router: Look for a sticker on the router’s body, often on the back or bottom, for the IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1).
Use Command Prompt/Terminal (Windows): Open cmd, type ipconfig, and find the “Default Gateway” IP.
Use Terminal (Mac/Linux): Open Terminal and type ipconfig getifaddr en0 (or similar for your connection).
Check Network Settings (Phone/PC): Go to your Wi-Fi settings and view network details for the “Router” or “Gateway” IP.
Open a Web Browser: Launch Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
Enter the IP Address: Type the IP address you found into the browser’s address bar and press Enter.
Log In:
Enter your username and password when prompted.
Default credentials are often admin/password, admin/admin, or user/user.
If you changed them and forgot, you might need to factory reset the router (check its manual).
Access Settings: Once logged in, you’ll see the router’s administration panel to change Wi-Fi names, passwords, security, and other network settings.

Sometimes, modem routers (gateways) use the same default IP address as Linksys E-series routers. When this happens, the modem router will assign a different IP address to the router. This means you’ll have to look up your router’s IP address to get into the setup wizard and manage the settings afterward.
IMPORTANT: Make sure your mobile device is connected to the router’s Wi-Fi. If you are using a wired computer, make sure it is connected to one of the router’s ethernet ports.
