Have you ever been told, “You had potential”? That moment may have been the most impactful one in your life. You may have felt valued and confident to tackle any given situation.
But then, as we all know, life is filled with many ups and downs. We all go through challenges that are often unfair and unpredictable. These situations are often out of our control. So, when we look back, we always wonder if we have achieved our potential yet.
If you feel like you haven’t achieved your potential or are behind in life, know that the place you’re currently at doesn’t indicate your skills and values.
When someone says they see potential in you, this means that they noticed that you have strong skills that can be honed through practice and confidence. Your strong skills can then contribute to the world’s greater good. If you take the time to develop your skills, you can achieve something you never even imagined.
To put it simply, potential is the definition of what you can achieve with the correct resources and time.
However, not only those around you can recognize your potential. In fact, you can notice your own potential and see what you overcame. When you overcome a challenge in life, you gain new skills and learn to be more resourceful. And when you look at these challenges, you may be surprised by how much you have overcome.
So, when you’re facing a challenge and are upset about your everyday life quality, understand that your present life isn’t a good indicator of your future life.
Our current moments can’t possibly indicate what we’re capable of. When we’re going through struggles, we don’t know who we’ll be once we overcome them. Who knows what we’ll learn and how we’ll end up?
You can’t know what will happen tomorrow, let alone in the next decade.
So, instead of focusing on the current situation, focus on who you can become and work towards the person you strive to be.
When you work towards becoming who you want to be, you’ll realize what you’re truly capable of. You’ll see how life can change in the blink of an eye.
But to truly achieve your potential, you must look within yourself and realize you can do much more. When you realize your skills, you will be the person you were meant to become.
